PES teacher receives state and regional recognition

PELION, SC – The Southeastern Section of the National Association of Geoscience Teachers (NAGT) named Pelion Elementary School Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Teacher Lisha Hylton the 2014 Outstanding Earth Science Teacher for South Carolina.
NAGT organized the award program to recognize teachers who demonstrate exemplary talent and dedication toward the teaching of earth and environmental science topics.
The Southeastern Section also named Hylton its 2014 Outstanding Earth Science Teacher. She beat teachers from seven other states to win the honor.
Hylton will receive the South Carolina award during a formal presentation at the South Carolina Science Teachers-SC2 annual conference in Myrtle Beach on Oct. 31. The award includes a plaque, a check and a variety of teaching materials and resources.
