Columbia Metropolitan Airport and Richland Library Offer Travelers Free Entertainment Downloads

June 5, 2014

CAYCE, SC – Columbia Metropolitan Airport and Richland Library have partnered to make a collection of entertainment downloads free to CAE travelers.

Curated by Richland Library, the collection includes thousands of e-book, music and movie titles that cross all genres and interests. Passengers traveling through Columbia Metropolitan Airport will be directed via QR codes and informational signage to the library’s host site with instructions on how to download content.  Users can also go directly to www.richlandlibrary.com/flyCAE to access content.

“Richland Library takes our tagline ‘access freely’ quite seriously,” said Tony Tallent, the library’s Director of Literacy and Learning. “Regardless of where they’re from or where they’re going, CAE customers now have easy access to free streaming and downloadable titles to help make their next adventure more enjoyable.”

Conceptualized as a public service to customers served by both the library and the airport, the initiative also helps promote literacy in a venue where people often have time to read while waiting for flights.

“We’re excited about bringing this service to Columbia’s flying public,” says Kaela Harmon, the airport’s Public Relations Manager.  “This is a perfect way of blending current technology with passengers’ favorite pass times and it exposes the public to this vast resource of digital information and entertainment that is Richland Library.”

www.richlandlibrary.com/flyCAE is live and ready for active users.  Throughout the next few months both entities will continue to roll out additional access points and website changes based on user feedback.
