701 Center for Contemporary Art announces Columbia Open Studios Preview Party
April 3, 2014
COLUMBIA, SC – April 3, 2014 – 701 Center for Contemporary Art will host a Preview Party for Columbia Open Studios on Thursday, April 3, 2014 from 7-10 p.m. on the second floor of historic 701 Whaley. Open to the public, the event will feature cash bar by Liquid Assets, complimentary hors d’oeuvres by Linda Phillips Catering, and a pop-up exhibition of work by participating artists.
Now in its fourth year being presented by 701 CCA, the popular driving tour of fine artists’ studios will be held April 5 and 6, 2014. Artists across Columbia and Richland and Lexington counties will open their doors to visitors, with no admission fee. Artists keep 100% of artwork sales.
New artists join the ranks this year, each harnessing unique inspirations and giving tour goers the chance to learn new, intimate stories. Jean Capalbo’s muse, for example, is her best friend – of the canine variety. Her dogs and cat, as well as the wildlife in Arizona, inspire her artistic style. Lindsay Wiggins’ art, on the other hand, is influenced heavily by female surrealists such as Frida Kahlo and Leonora Carrington.
Tickets for the Columbia Open Studios Preview Party at 701 CCA are $5 for 701 CCA members and $10 for nonmembers. Cash, credit and check will be accepted at the door.
