The power of the Master Mind

Napoleon Hill wrote an exceptional business book.
“Think and Grow Rich” still sells big every year.
It still inspires legions of start-up entrepreneurs.
It is a valuable guide for successful business owners.
It sits on the shelf beside my desk for ready reference.

Hill’s story in itself is inspiring.
He was a poor boy who became an able journalist.
He interviewed the most successful people of his time.
It took time but Andrew Carnegie agreed to see him.
Carnegie had been a poor Scottish immigrant boy.
He worked his way up from the bottom to the top.
He made U.S. Steel the leader in his industry.
He sold it for $13.5 billion in today’s dollars.
He used the money to better society.
He prodded wealthy friends to do the same.
Carnegie Hall, which he built, bears his name.

He knew Hill had risen from near poverty, too.
He invited him to come to his home to talk.
He took a liking to the sincere young journalist.
They spent the weekend talking about success.
Carnegie gave Hill two incredible gifts that weekend:
• He gave him an irresistible challenge.
Interview successful people to learn their secrets.
Share them with others in a series of articles.
Use them for a book to show others how to succeed.
That become “Think and Grow Rich.”
• The secret of his success in the steel industry.
Carnegie had surrounded himself with bright people.
Many people feel intimidated by smart people.’
Not Carnegie. He knew they would advise him well.
He called it the “power of the Master Mind.”
Get their best thinking but make up your own mind.
Hill devotes an entire chapter to Master Minding.
I encourage you to read this chapter and his book.
