Continuing the theme of military style, here are a two inspiration looks for your weekend wear that will have you standing taller and feeling more confident to tackle all the items on your to-do list:

1.    Field Jackets.  One of the most versatile and durable jackets around, this is the perfect weight for our cool mornings that turn into warm days.  It is also thin enough to wear layers underneath without looking boxy.  Usually made of treated cotton this is also a great choice for rainy days, because the water will bead off instead of soaking in.

2.    Camo Print.  A huge trend this season, you can find just about anything in camo including: jeans, chinos, blazers, hats, shoes, bags, etc.  A favored print for sportsmen, the trick to pulling off camo casually by everyone else is to use it only on one item and with nothing else sporty.  Here I paired the vest with a V-neck sweater and chinos because there is no need to look like a hunter if you are just going to the grocery store.

3.    Combat boots.  This utilitarian footwear has been adopted by several subsets of society throughout the years, but recently has taken the runway by storm.  High-end designers have paired combat boots with everything from sweatpants to evening gowns.  While those may be a stretch for the average weekend, they work perfectly with a pair of jeans.

4.    Hats.  The field cap, also know as a patrol cap, is another popular item this season.  While they tend to be lower and wider than baseball caps the similar overall shape make them easily wearable.  You can find them made out of cotton, felt, wool or flannel this season, so try one on.

5.    Aviators.  You can’t get much more classic or military inspired than a pair of aviator sunglasses.  The classic shape is still popular, but it has also been modified over the past few years to create variations suitable for every face.  The key to finding the right sunglasses is the width, depth and roundness of the lens.

6.    Bomber jackets.  Another carryover of the pilot style these are also classic pieces that have been updated and modernized over the past few years.  As the weather starts to get colder think about adding one of these to your collection.  They will have you feeling like a ‘top gun’ in no time.

7.    Other accessories.  Watches, necklaces, earrings and bags can also be found sporting military insignias or design elements.  The triangular earrings are an understated and refined homage to military pins while the watch is rugged and durable.

Weekend or workday you can craft a look that evokes both the aesthetic of the military and the characteristics as well.  Who doesn’t want to appear loyal, courageous and commanding?
