Nickelodeon Theatre Seeks Designs for “Design the Sign” Contest

COLUMBIA, SC – November 12, 2012 – The Nickelodeon Theatre, South Carolina’s only non-profit art house theater, seeks artists’ designs for their Design the Sign contest. The Nickelodeon has moved into its newly renovated home at 1644 Main Street, but until fundraising is complete and the theater’s permanent marquee is installed, the organization will hold a Design the Sign contest. Artists can submit their designs for the Nickelodeon’s temporary signage through Friday, Nov. 30.

A panel of judges chosen from Columbia’s art community will choose the best design. Entries will be judged on originality, relevance to the Nickelodeon’s mission and overall appeal. The winner of the Design the Sign contest will receive $250 from the Nickelodeon and a $50 gift certificate to S&S Art Supply. Runners up will have their work displayed in a show at the Nickelodeon this winter as part of First Thursdays on Main.
 
Rules:

  • Signs submitted must be 135” wide x 50.5” height.
  • Submit your original, digital design to [email protected]
  • Winning design will be printed and displayed on the Nickelodeon Theatre’s façade until the theater’s permanent marquee arrives
  • All entries must be submitted by Nov. 30, 2012
