Tapp’s Arts Center Celebrates its First Anniversary with Wine Festival this Friday

COLUMBIA, SC – November 2, 2012 – Tapp’s Arts Center, Columbia’s center for art, music and performing arts at 1644 Main Street, will celebrate its first anniversary and a full year of arts on Main Street, Friday, Nov. 2, from 6 – 10 p.m. at its Tapp’s Arts Center First Anniversary Wine Festival, hosted by Friends of Tapp’s Arts Center.
The event will feature wine tastings organized by country, jazz music by Reggie Sullivan and Eboni Ramm, as well as The Dubber, Riyen Roots of Asheville, N.C. and Sidestreet Reny of Portland, OR. Main Street’s favorite restaurants, including Hampton Street Vineyards, Cowboy Brazilian Steakhouse, Villa Tronco, the Sheraton, Paradise Ice, Wine Down on Main and The Oak Table, will provide food.
Many of Columbia’s favorite artists, as well as Tapp’s Resident Artists, and other area businesses will donate artwork and other items for a silent auction. Tapp’s Arts Center’s artists will also have their work on display and guests are invited to stroll through their studios. In the main exhibition space, the popular Suzy Scarborough show, which has been held over, will hang.
“It’s been a great year at Tapp’s,” says Brenda Schwarz, “We’re looking forward to celebrating a full year of enhancing the vibrant arts scene on Columbia’s Main Street. Tapp’s continues to grow and morph into what our studio artists and the community ask for, but we’re thrilled about the shows and 44 artists we have at Tapp’s and all of the special programming that the last year has brought, including art classes and musical performances.”
Tickets are $35 per person or $60 per couple in advance and are available at Tapp’s Arts Center or online at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/285281. Tickets will be $45 per person and $80 at the door. Parking is available in the brand new city garage at the corner of Taylor and Main, with a passageway to Tapp’s Arts Center
The event is hosted by Friends of the Tapp’s Arts Center, whose mission is to provide artistic and educational programming, as well as community outreach. Other sponsors include Southern Wine & Spirits, Buck Ridge Plantation, Capitol Places, Free Times, WXRY, the City of Columbia and participating Main Street restaurants.
