Heather Bauer Joins Nickelodeon Theatre

COLUMBIA, SC – August 13, 2012 – The Nickelodeon Theatre, South Carolina’s only non-profit art house theater and a leading voice for media arts in the Southeast, has named Heather Bauer Director of Operations.
As Director of Operations, Bauer will serve as a senior level staff member, overseeing all box office, concessions and theater staff, creating systems for evaluating and improving the customer experience and overseeing much of the planning for special events, including Indie Grits Festival at the Nickelodeon Theatre’s new space at 1607 Main Street.
“Heather is joining our team at a crucial time as we prepare to open our new facility in the heart of Main Street,” says Andy Smith, executive director of the Nickelodeon Theatre. “We have a staff that’s growing and growing operational needs as an organization, and we’re looking forward to this next era for the Nick. Having Heather on our staff also means that our entire leadership staff has an educational background in film, which is significant for the future of our organization as an arts institution.”
Bauer graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in interior design and also holds a Master of Media Arts with a focus on producing from the University of South Carolina. Most recently, Heather was an associate producer, account executive and project manager at Mad Monkey Inc. She is active in several community organizations and serves on the boards of the Congaree Vista Guild, Columbia Design League and Harvest Hope Producers. She also serves as curator for Columbia’s first digital art and photography gallery, The Gallery at DuPre. Her background in film production ranges from producing and acting to historical research. Heather was also awarded a 2012 South Carolina Film Commission grant for the film Theo.
“The Nick is a such an asset in our community, and I look forward to working with the Nick’s staff, members and audience members,” says Bauer. “Working at the Nick is the perfect combination of my leadership skills and background in media arts. It’s exciting to be working with the Nickelodeon at such an important time in the theater’s history as we wrap up the Move the Nick campaign and move to Main Street.”
