Clothed in Hope hosts first annual golf tournament to support widows in Zambia

COLUMBIA, SC – August 9, 2012 – Fairway of Hope Golf Tournament benefiting Clothed in Hope will be held on August 9, 2012 at Golden Hills Country Club in Lexington, SC. Clothed in Hope (CiH) is a non-profit organization founded by USC students that uses a well-rounded educational program to help guide and teach struggling widows to become financially independent.

Golfers of all skill levels and ages are invited to compete in CiH’s tournament. To sign up contact Christiana Purves at [email protected] or 770-656-5103. Cost is $400 for a team of four or $100 for individuals and this includes green fee, golf cart, goodie bag and CiH t-shirt. Breakfast, lunch and drinks will also be available in addition to Cupcakes sponsored by Cupcake Bakery.

Clothed in Hope Director of Development Morgan Duke says, “We’re excited about the opportunity to diversify our supporters throughout the community; expanding from campus to include corporate as well. This should be an overall great time for an incredible cause.

The money raised at Fairway of Hope will help president and founder, Amy Woodell, as she develops Clothed in Hope’s training program in Lusaka, Zambia this summer.

The program helps widows living in African slums become self-suffiecient by combining financial instruction and life guidance with sewing lessons. CiH is dedicated to creating opportunities for women often deprived of secondary education to support their families through producing and selling clothing products.

Registration and breakfast will start at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday August 9, with a 9:00 a.m shotgun start. Lunch and a silent auction will follow play. Golden Hills Country Club is located at 100 Scotland Drive, Lexington, SC 29072.
