Intel Announces an Electronics Recycling Event June 27th from 9 AM – 2 PM

COLUMBIA, SC – June 18, 2009 – Intel Corporation is sponsoring an electronics recycling event where residents can drop off their old or inoperative electronics. Reuse and recycling reduces the amount of toxic and hazardous substances that may enter the environment through disposal. The recycling event will run from 9 am to 2 pm on June 27th, 2009.  All makes and models of electronic equipment will be accepted and drop off is free. A $5 donation is requested, and all donations will be given to Harvest Hope Food Bank.

The event will be held at the parking lot of the Intel office at 100 Center Point Circle, Columbia, SC 29210. It is near the St. Andrews Rd exit off of I-26, near the I-20/I-26 interchange, and there will be signs to direct cars from the St. Andrews exit to the event.

Accepted electronics include computers, monitors, CRT’s, TV’s, printers, scanners, keyboards, mice, VCR’s, terminals, cables, fax machines, radios, modems, telephones, copiers, typewriters, stereo equipment, and cell phones.  Cell phones will be donated to Collective Good, an organization that redistributes reusable cell phones.  All other equipment will be recycled.
