Stimulus 101 Summit Focuses on Getting Information to Local Governments
April 11, 2009COLUMBIA, SC – April 11, 2009 – Representatives of state and federal agencies responsible for distributing stimulus funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to local governments will be the featured speakers at a Stimulus 101 Summit in Columbia on Friday, April 17, at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. The summit will run from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The Summit is intended to help local government leaders in communities of all sizes around the state get a better understanding of the type of funding available and the process for accessing the funds. Although some larger communities are eligible for some of the funds based on population and capacity, there are also many competitive grants available to large and small communities and through regional collaborations.
The day-long meeting will feature representatives from a variety of federal and state agencies tasked with dispensing the funds. Participants will get a broad overview of funding sources, timelines and project criteria to better understand how to navigate the opportunities for funding and regional collaboration within the ARRA.
While the Summit is geared toward addressing the programs in the Act that directly fund local governments, the event is open to the public.
The agenda of federal and state agency speakers is being updated daily. There is no cost to attend, but registration by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, is required. To register, call 803.545.3075 or click here to download a fax registration form or register online.
