Michelle E. Edwards promoted to Senior Vice President /Chief Information Officer for Palmetto Health

COLUMBIA, SC – April 3, 2009 – Michelle Edwards has recently been promoted to senior vice president/chief information officer of Information Technology for Palmetto Health. Edwards, the CIO since February 2009, has been a member of the hospital’s professional staff for 18 years. In this role, she will be responsible for providing leadership and direction for the acquisition, implementation and support of enterprise applications and technologies and for customer support services.  Through collaboration efforts, she will ensure IT strategic alignment with organizational goals.

Edwards, a respiratory care practitioner, received her bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of South Carolina and completed her master’s in Healthcare Administration at Strayer University. Prior to becoming the CIO, Edwards served as the corporate director in Clinical Applications. Her professional affiliations include memberships in the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, College of Healthcare Information Management Executives, and American Association of Respiratory Care.
