Allegiant Air Inaugurates Nonstop Service to Orlando

Airline Celebrates with $39* One-Way Fares

COLUMBIA, SC –February 25, 2009 – Columbia, S.C. residents take off today for the fun and sun of Orlando, Fla. as low-fare airline Allegiant Air inaugurates the only nonstop service from Columbia Metropolitan Airport to the Sunshine State.  To celebrate, the low-cost airline is offering a special $39* one-way fare to Orlando. 

In a special event before takeoff, Allegiant will present the Big Brothers Big Sisters Greater Columbia, Inc. with 10 roundtrip tickets from Columbia to Orlando.  The charity will be able to use the tickets for fundraising purposes, to send children to the Magic Kingdom or in whatever way will benefit the organization the most.

Gallagher Jr., Allegiant Air president & CEO, said. “This is an exciting new addition for our airline and our customers as we launch the only nonstop service between Columbia and Orlando.”

The new service operates three times weekly, with service Sunday, Wednesday and Friday. Flights depart Columbia Metropolitan Airport at 8:25 p.m. arriving in Orlando Sanford International Airport at 9:35 p.m. Flights leaving Orlando depart at 6:30 p.m. arriving in Columbia at 7:45 p.m. (all flight times are local.)

Allegiant will utilize 150-seat, MD-80 series, jet-aircraft on the route.  The airline said its research and input from local community leaders indicate the Columbia community will welcome the new nonstop flights and low fares to Orlando.  The new Orlando service will offer the community low-cost alternative to connecting flights and long drives.

The Allegiant Vacations division of the company offers low-cost packages with 58 of Orlando and Daytona Beach’s most exciting hotel properties. Partner properties include The Swan, The Dolphin, The Hilton in Lake Buena Vista and the Radisson Parkway. Low-cost packages are available to include hotel, car and amusement park tickets for additional savings.

About the $39* one-way fare:

Seats are limited. Fares are one-way and not available on all flights. Must be purchased by March 11, 2009 for travel completed by July 31, 2009. Offer not available April 5-20, May 22-25 and July 2-6, 2009. 7-day advance purchase required. Prices do not include PFC, segment tax or Sept. 11 security fee of up to $10.60 per segment. A segment is one take-off and one landing. A convenience fee of $13.50 per passenger will apply when booked on allegiantair.com. A convenience fee of $13.50 per passenger, plus $10.00 per segment, will apply when purchased through Allegiant Air call center. Purchases made at any Allegiant Air Airport Ticket Office will not incur a convenience or call-center fee.
