Event will celebrate the opening of Red Cross museum exhibit

COLUMBIA, SC – January 8, 2009 – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of South Carolina will host the Red, White & Black Tie Affair benefitting the American Red Cross of Central South Carolina on Friday, March 13 at the South Carolina State Museum. The event will celebrate the premiere of Our National Treasure: The American Red Cross, a museum exhibit that will travel around the country for the next five years.

“We are honored to have Our National Treasure: The American Red Cross premiere here in South Carolina,” said Scott Salemme, chief executive officer of the American Red Cross of Central South Carolina. “The exhibit will showcase the rich history of the Red Cross, which spans more than 125 years. The Red, White and Black Tie Affair and Family Day are designed to generate community excitement about the exhibit.”
 
Patrons will enjoy a wide selection of food and beverage, live music entertainment, and get a sneak-peek of the exhibit. Tickets for the Gala are $100 per person and can be purchased by calling (803) 540-1225.  Tickets for the VIP Reception featuring a surprise celebrity guest are $1,000 each.

On Saturday, March 14, the Red Cross will hold Family Day 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at the museum to coincide with the exhibit’s opening. The event will include hands-on activities for kids, health and safety demonstrations, a blood drive, and much more.

Our National Treasure: The American Red Cross will run through June 30.
