Sisters of Charity Providence Hospitals’ Heritage Society Inducts Four Members Including Dr. John Stevenson

COLUMBIA, SC – January 31, 2008 – Four new members have been named to the Heritage Society of Sisters of Charity Providence Hospitals. J. Michael Kapp, the late Peggy Huskey Marshall, R. Mac Stidham, and John Stevenson, Ph.D., were recently inducted into this prestigious group. Established by Providence in 2003, the Heritage Society recognizes its most committed supporters who have generously given their time, talent, and knowledge over the years to further the mission of the hospitals.
Dr. John Stevenson has filled various leadership positions with the Sisters of Charity since the early 1980s. He has served as member of the board of trustees for Providence Hospitals, and invested time, support and ideas into the development of Healthy Learners. Healthy Learners is a ministry of the Sisters of Charity Health System that provides health care for uninsured and underserved public school children. Now retired, Dr. Stevenson previously worked as superintendent for Richland School District One and as interim superintendent for Lee County school system.
