Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina Selects New Board Members
May 22, 2007(COLUMBIA, S.C., MAY 16, 2007) – The Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina is pleased to announce that Tobin Cassels, Thomas P. Otis, Patricia J. Moore-Pastides, MPH and Roy Tucker, Jr., have been elected to its board of trustees.
In addition to new members, the Foundation’s newly elected 2007 board officers include John Boudreaux, president; Kevin Hall, vice president; Dorothy Grillo, secretary and Dennis Dabney, treasurer.
Tobin Cassels, president and CEO of Southeastern Freight Lines, has been involved with many nonprofit organizations in the Columbia area. In 2002 he won the award of Outstanding Philanthropist in the Columbia area, and in 2006 Cassels was presented the Alice Kemp DeWitt Community Impact Award from the United Way. Cassels graduated with an economics degree from Washington & Lee University. He and his wife Pat attend Shandon Baptist Church and have two children.
A graduate of Leadership Columbia, Thomas P. Otis currently serves as senior vice president and COO of Atlantic Marina Holdings, LLC. He received a Bachelors of Arts in Economics from Washington & Lee University and a Master of Business Administration from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. Otis has served as past president of the Palmetto Chapter of the W&L Alumni Association, Salvation Army of the Midlands Advisory Board member and on the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina Finance Committee.
Former director of the Pregnant and Parenting and Teen Provider Network of the SC Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, Patricia J. Moore-Pastides, MPH, brings over 25 years of healthcare consulting and management to the Foundation board. Moore-Pastides received a bachelor’s degree from College of the Holy Cross, a Masters in Public Health from Yale University School of Medicine and is a graduate from University of North Carolina’s Management Academy for Public Health. She has served on many boards including the Healthy Learners Advisory Board, Palmetto Health South Carolina Cancer Center Board of Directors and Richland County First Steps Board of Directors.
Roy Tucker, Jr., currently serves as the county health supervisor for Lexington County Health Department. Tucker received a bachelor’s degree from South Carolina State University and a master’s from Florida Institute of Technology.
