Event planning companies Yoj Events and Semper Signature Events merge

Yoj Events and Semper Signature Events have recently merged under the ownership of Monique Semper. The newly formed company will be doing business as Yoj Events, a Semper Signature Co. The event offices and showroom will remain at 162 Wentworth Street in Downtown Charleston where Yoj Events has been located for the past 3 years.
Semper Signature Events is a wedding and event planning company founded by Monique Semper in 2014 after a decade of freelance wedding planning. Busy executing dozens of weddings and events each year, Semper had been seeking opportunities to expand the business in a smart way. When the previous owner of Yoj reached out about combining their companies, it presented the perfect scenario to increase her capacity and take on more events.
Yoj Events was founded in 2005 and has handled hundreds of events in the Charleston area. Additionally, Semper has acquired Yoj’s sister-company, Charleston Tuxedo, which has become a staple in the wedding industry, decking out grooms and groomsmen and providing formal menswear for any special occasion.
“The wedding industry in Charleston has grown so much over the past few years, we’ve been having to turn away brides which is really disappointing to me,” comments Semper. “With an expanded staff and more resources, we’ll have the capacity to take on more events which means we can make more people happy … that’s why we’re in this business.”
Born to European parents, Monique has worked in Charleston’s hospitality industry for over 25 years including running The Trawler restaurant on Shem Creek with her father, Horst Semper, and serving as Special Events Manager for the Greater Charleston Restaurant Association. Since acquiring Yoj Events, Semper has expanded her team to include several additional event planning professionals with the ultimate goal of executing the client’s vision and making it as seamless and enjoyable as possible.
