Amy Barch, Executive Director,Turning Leaf Project
For more than a decade, Amy Barch has been involved in jail programs and reentry work. She has studied various programs throughout the country that attempt to reduce recidivism, learning what has worked and what has failed. Amy founded Turning Leaf to offer an opportunity for men to change their life after leaving prison.
All enrolled students start out in a classroom to learn skills that build the foundation of their success. Daily classes improve coping skills to better manage risky emotions and situations. All curriculum is based in concepts of cognitive behavioral therapy. Skills are not just taught, but practiced and role-played. This takes time and repetition.
