Nicolle Davies to step down as library’s executive director
September 27, 2018Charleston County Public Library (CCPL) Executive Director Nicolle Davies recently announced she is stepping down for family reasons to return to her home state of Colorado.
“I love what we’re doing across Charleston County to engage patrons in more lifelong learning through our growing and dynamic library system,” she said. “This is a dream job, but I have unforeseen family responsibilities that make it necessary for our family to return to Colorado.”
Davies informed the library’s board of trustees of her decision Tuesday night. Her resignation will be effective Dec. 1, 2018.
“This is sad news for the board, staff and people of Charleston County because Nicolle is the best library director in the country,” board chair Andy Brack said. “We’re thankful for her leadership over the last two years in helping to make our library system great. We’re going to miss her leadership, but are thankful for her guidance in renewing our mission to serve the public.”
Brack said the Board of Trustees will appoint a committee and launch a national search in the coming weeks. An interim director will be named before Dec. 1, 2018, according to Brack.
