Hendrick Automotive Group and Lowcountry Food Bank Spring Meal Packing Event will feed 850 families for Easter

March 30, 2018

Hendrick Automotive Group & the Lowcountry Food Bank (LCFB) conducted a Spring Meal Packing Event this morning at the LCFB. Volunteers from Charleston & North Charleston Hendrick Automotive Group Dealerships and Military Magnet Academy, North Charleston, packed 3,400 Easter meals that will be distributed to 850 families who face hunger.

Representatives shared the importance of donations such as this while raising awareness of hunger in the Charleston area this holiday season, where one in five children struggles with food insecurity.

“It means the world to us to partner with Rick Hendrick Automotive Group,” said LCFB President and CEO Pat Walker. “Rick Hendrick Automotive is truly compassionate and wants to give back to their community. This Easter drive is making such a difference in the lives of families in the Lowcountry. I am also so proud of our staff here at LCFB – they go above and beyond to make the Easter drive a wonderful experience for everyone involved.”

These traditional Easter meals include a ham, rice, mac & cheese, green beans, corn, stuffing, canned peaches and pie. Each meal should feed a family of four.

As part of its ongoing community outreach, Hendrick Automotive Group is committed to its fight against hunger by partnering with 18 different food banks throughout the Southeast. By the end of the Spring Meal Drive initiative, teammates from more than 75 Hendrick Automotive Group dealerships will have donated more than 7,500 traditional Easter meals to help more than 30,000 individuals suffering from hunger this holiday season.
