SC Chamber applauds legislature for passage of H.3653

February 7, 2018

The South Carolina House today concurred with Senate amendments to H.3653, legislation which limits nuisance actions by new neighbors against the normal operations of existing manufacturing facilities by codifying the “coming to the nuisance” defense. The bill now moves to the Governor’s desk.

“The business community thanks the South Carolina legislature for voting to protect our state’s job creators” said Ted Pitts, President & CEO of the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce. “Both the House and the Senate understand that manufacturing is a vital and growing piece of South Carolina business environment, and this legislation guards existing industrial and manufacturing facilities from frivolous lawsuits that can stifle growth and innovation.”

The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce supports H.3653 and will score both the House and Senate votes on its annual Legislative Scorecard. To read the Chamber’s letter and statement of support on this legislation, please click here.
