Scout Boats celebrates groundbreaking of South Carolina expansion

Local boat manufacturer will create 370 new jobs in connection with expansion of its Summerville headquarters

SUMMERVILLE, SC – Scout Boats, a designer and manufacturer of luxury coastal fishing boats, celebrated the November 14th groundbreaking of the expansion of its corporate headquarters in Dorchester County, South Carolina.  The company is adding multiple new boat models to its product catalog, and the planned expansion will result in $10.9 million in capital investment and 370 new jobs to the Summerville area.  The company announced in April 2017 that it was expanding its operations in South Carolina.

Founded in 1989 and headquartered in Summerville, South Carolina, Scout Boats designs and manufactures a wide variety of luxury coastal fishing boats, including center console, dual console and bay boat models. Ranging from 17 feet to 53 feet lengths, Scout Boats’ products can be found in more than 70 dealers across the nation and the world.

Located at 2531 Highway 78 West in Summerville, Scout’s planned expansion will include a new 120,000-square-foot facility, designed to accommodate the company’s new 53-foot yacht model.

South Carolina and Dorchester County celebrated Scout’s groundbreaking with a welcome reception at the project site.  Scout welcomed Jennifer Fletcher, South Carolina Deputy Secretary of Commerce, as well as Jay Byars, Chair of the Dorchester County Council, who spoke at the event.
