Saltwater Cowboys is coming to Shem Creek

Opening this month on Shem Creek is the highly anticipated restaurant Saltwater Cowboys, located at 130 Mill St, Mt Pleasant. Mt. Pleasant natives Wade Boals, a fourth-generation restaurateur, and Brett Yearout have teamed up with worldwide European restaurateur Joel Olindo, co-owner of Mt. Pleasant’s Nico. Boals and Yearout have been working throughout Charleston for over 30 years and are excited to bring their expertise and passion back home to Shem Creek. Saltwater Cowboys, to be managed by Luis Rodriquez, will offer the best views on Shem Creek via the newly remodeled rooftop, vast dog friendly patio, outdoor bar and dining space as well as over 60 feet of floating dock.
Saltwater Cowboys’ head chef Ryan Love’s hand-crafted menu will feature fresh, locally sourced, seafood including shrimp from Shem Creek’s own Mrs. Judy Too, owned by Grace and Tommy Edwards, local fish from Charleston Star and The Geechie Dock, as well as onsite pit smoked BBQ by pit master David Carter, BBQ circuit champion. Guests of Saltwater Cowboys’ can also enjoy over 20 locally crafted and nationally made beers, a specialty bourbon bar and an extensive wine menu.
“We’ve been blessed to own and manage three successful restaurants throughout the Lowcountry, as well as our catering division, A Southern Affair, but now it’s time to bring it back home. Brett (Yearout) and I are excited to revisit our youth, and our roots, with this new endeavor on Shem Creek,” said co-owner Wade Boals, “We’re aiming to make everyone feel at home with reasonable prices, delicious local food and a welcoming atmosphere.”
