May 8, 2017Where: MUSC Horseshoe, 171 Ashley Ave., Charleston, SC, 29425
When: Wednesday, May 10, 2017
Time: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
We invite you to join as we celebrate Trauma Survivors Day. The Medical University of South Carolina will host an awareness and education event in the MUSC Horseshoe. There will be trauma survivor support groups, as well as, materials to educate survivors, caregivers, staff and the community.
May is National Trauma Awareness Month, and Trauma Survivors Day seeks to draw inspiration from, and provide support to, survivors and their caregivers, opening the road to their recovery from injury.
MUSC Health Level I Trauma Center is a member of the Trauma Survivors Network (TSN, www.traumasurviviorsnetwork.org), a patient support network provided by the American Trauma Society (ATS, www.amtrauma.org), to assist individuals and families through this process.
During this event, participants will have an opportunity to write a note of inspiration to trauma survivors, have their picture taken with the note then share the photo via social media. The goal of ATS is to have 10,000 messages posted to social media on Trauma Survivors Day, “10,000 voices for trauma survivors” (http://www.traumasurvivorsnetwork.org/pages/national-trauma-survivors-day).
