Director of Global Communications at The Carlyle Group by day, Chris Ullman whistles his way into fame, politics and publishing

May 3, 2017

Chris Ullman is a four-time national and international whistling champion. He has performed with major symphony orchestras, serenaded President George W. Bush in the Oval Office, whistled the National Anthem at major league sporting events and entertained millions around the world on TV and radio. He whistles Happy Birthday to someone more than 400 times a year.

He is also Director of Global Communications at The Carlyle Group, an investment firm based in Washington, DC, one of the largest in the world.

His two worlds come together in his new book, Find Your Whistle, in which Ullman weaves a story about his own heartwarming, hilarious and outrageous journey from Washington and Wall Street insider to champion whistler, who uses his gift to touch hearts and change lives. His point, “you don’t have to be a hero to make the world a better place. Everyone has a simple gift – a whistle – to share with the world, one person at a time.”

With forward by billionaire philanthropist David M. Rubenstein, “he is doing what others can and should do: find their own whistle and use that skill or talent to bring happiness and pleasure to others. Nothing is so rewarding, in Chris’s view, than for an individual to find his or her whistle and use it.”

The book will be presented at High Cotton May 12 as part of the Blue Bicycle Books Charleston Author Series. For interviews or appearances, contact Susan Lucas, 843-303-1113.
