Local builder recognized at the 2016 Southeast Building Conference
August 29, 2016MOUNT PLEASANT, SC – Sabal Homes took home four awards at the 35th Annual Aurora Awards in Florida this past month. The prestigious design competition is affiliated with the Southeast Building Conference (SEBC) and the Florida Home Builders Association (FHBA) and recognizes outstanding residential and commercial-housing professionals throughout the southeast.
Sabal Homes was recognized for its work with the Firethorn model and the Camelia model, both of which are featured homes in the Summers Corner neighborhood in Summerville, SC.
The Firethorn model won an Aurora Award in the Best Single Family Detached Home (2,500 to 2,999 sq. ft.) category, while the Camelia model won an Aurora Award, a Grand Aurora Award and the Best in State Award for South Carolina in the Best Single Family Detached Home (2,000 to 2,499 sq. ft.) category. Westrock and Housing Design Matters Inc. served as the developer and architect, respectively, for both models.

The Aurora Awards received 335 entries in 57 categories, including commercial, office space, renovated projects, mixed-use, affordable, multi-family projects, site planning, single-family production and custom homes. Each entry was reviewed by a panel of six building industry leaders.
