Santee Cooper Board approves 2016 Budget
December 7, 2015MONCKS CORNER, SC – The Santee Cooper Board of Directors approved a $2.7 billion budget for 2016 today at its regular monthly meeting. The board also approved the 2017 and 2018 budgets for planning purposes.
The 2016 budget includes $1.8 billion for the electric system, $8.3 million for the water systems and $911.4 million for capital expenditures. Approximately 43% of the $1.8 billion electric system budget is allocated for fuel and purchased power.
The $911.4 million for construction and capital equipment expenditures includes:
- $643.2 million for construction of new nuclear generating units
- $70.7 million for renewable generation and environmental control improvements
- $197.5 million for the transmission and distribution systems and system-wide improvements
