MUSC announces new chair of comparative medicine, director of laboratory animal resources
October 27, 2015CHARLESTON, SC –Suzanne Craig, DVM, DACLAM, has been named chair of the MUSC Department of Comparative Medicine in the College of Medicine, and director of the division of Laboratory Animal Resources. This appointment is contingent on the MUSC Board of Trustees approval. Craig’s expected start date at is February 1, 2016.
Craig brings more than twenty years of experience and demonstrated leadership in the field of veterinary medicine, training and education. She was recruited from MD Anderson Cancer Center after a highly competitive national search. While at MD Anderson, Craig was deputy department chair, chief of the South Campus Animal Resources, education director, and residency program director of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery. Craig has a strong record of collaboration with faculty and residents in translational, clinical, and basic science research, and was recently awarded a five year NIH R25 training grant. She is currently president of the American Society of Laboratory Animal Practitioners.
