SOL’s Breast Friends Thursdays and Kitchen Karma Support Hollings Cancer Center Breast Cancer Research

MOUNT PLEASANT , SC – Grab your breast friends and head to SOL Southwest Kitchen and Tequila Bar in Mt. Pleasant. It’s not a type-o; SOL welcomes back “Breast Friend Thursdays,” a Happy Hour event that raises money and awareness to benefit MUSC Hollings CancerCenter’s Breast Cancer Research Center. Every Thursday through the end of October, Brooke and Tanya from Mix 96’s “Two Girls and a Guy” morning show will be on-site from 6-8pm encouraging attendees to register to win the last two spots on a 5-night cruise to theBahamas. The extended Happy Hour will also include food and drink specials from 4-8pm along with live music on the patio starting at 7pm.

For the first time, Breast Friend Thursdays will give breast cancer survivors an opportunity to tell their “SOL Survivor Story”. Each week a story will be chosen and the “SOL Survivor” will receive $100 to dine with their Breast Friends at SOL, Brooke and Tanya will also read the story on air. At the end of the series everyone that shares a story will be invited to the SOL Survivor Celebration.

“We are so excited to welcome back this event series. Breast Friends Thursdays is a wonderful platform to help increase breast cancer awareness, and also to help raise money for Hollings Cancer Center’s Breast Cancer Research Center,” said David Clark, owner of SOL. Last year SOL donated almost $1800 for breast cancer research, Clark hopes to raise at least $4,000 this year.

The weekly promotion ties in to SOL’s Kitchen Karma program where the restaurant partners with a local charitable organization to raise money. Through the current Kitchen Karma partnership, SOL will donate one dollar from every Prickly Pear Margarita and every Green Chile Chicken Nachos Appetizer sold daily between now and October 31 to MUSC Hollings Cancer Center’s downtown Charleston research lab to help find a cure for breast cancer.

SOL’s most recent Kitchen Karma partnership was with East Cooper Meals on Wheels (ECMOW) an organization that serves nutritious meals to local residents who are homebound or unable to provide their own meals. From late July through August, SOLraised a total of $1229, for ECMOW. Since its inception in late 2013, SOL’s Kitchen Karma program has raised nearly $15,000 for local charities.
