Charleston Retailer featured on Mad Men
May 18, 2015CHARLESTON, SC – What happens when you’re sitting down one evening, watching your favorite television show, and notice that one of the characters is wearing an outfit that looks surprisingly familiar?
.
That realization happened to Megan Hewitt, owner of local children’s retailer Shrimp and Grits Kids, when she realized that Eugene Draper, son of Don Draper on AMC’s hit TV show Mad Men, was wearing a smocked boys outfit she designed.
.
A quick flip back through the series revealed five of her unique smocked children’s designs had been featured on the show.
.
“It was definitely a surprise and a really great one, at that. I’m a big fan of the show, so having one of the characters wearing our designs was really a huge compliment,” said Hewett.
.
“While our product spotlight was on a show that isn’t filmed in Charleston, local retailers can still benefit from the national visibility that an increased TV and film production presence brings.”
