Dan Ryan Awarded 2015 Hearthstone BUILDER Humanitarian Award

CHARLESTON, SC – Hearthstone and Hanley Wood’s BUILDER Magazine, together with Kohler Company, the founding Sponsor, honored the first recipient of the Humanitarian Award sixteen years ago. It is an award bestowed upon a builder who has demonstrated a lifetime commitment to charitable works. At the Housing Summit, May 11th, 2015, Dan Ryan, Founder and CEO of Dan Ryan Builders, was the worthy recipient of the 2015 Hearthstone BUILDER Humanitarian Award. “The Hearthstone BUILDER Award is meant to honor those in our industry who invest their time, energy and resources to helping others,” said Peter Goldstone, CEO of Hanley Wood. “We are proud to recognize Dan Ryanfor his commitment to giving back to those in need and to helping people live a better life.”
Dan Ryan, the son of Ryland Homes founder, James Ryan, started Dan Ryan Builders in 1990. Celebrating 25 years, Dan Ryan Builders is the #16th largest private homebuilder and #35th largest homebuilder in the United States, according to the 2014 “Builder 100” list published by BUILDER Magazine. Building affordable and move-up homes in PA, MD, WVA, VA, NC & SC. Each local division is given charitable dollars to enrich the communities and areas where they build homes. The Dan Ryan Foundation 501(c) has funded millions of dollars toward charitable events and organizations over the years, including a $100,000donation for a residential program to help the homeless. Mr. Ryan speaks to his charitable giving as something instilled since childhood, “Homebuilding is certainly in my blood. My grandfather was a homebuilder, my dad was a homebuilder, and my two brothers are homebuilders. Not only did I learn homebuilding from my dad, I learned how to give back from my dad.” In addition to the award, the Dan Ryan Foundation 501(c) will receive a cash donation.
