October 17, 2012Bring your gently used college t-shirts to the Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry
CHARLESTON, SC – October 20th, 2012 – On Saturday, October 20th, Charleston County School of the Arts sophomore, Ted Anastopoulo will be at the Children’s Museum of the Lowountry collecting gently used college t-shirts for his new non-profit, College Bound Kids. This local teen entrepreneur is currently helping 5th graders at Mary Ford Elementary School develop an early interest in college and he hopes to expand to other Title 1 schools with your help. The Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry is hosting Ted and his t-shirt drop box on Saturday October 20th from 9am until 12pm.
We are proud to support Ted in his efforts to motivate and inspire students to consider college, says Robin Berlinsky, Director of Education at the Children’s Museum. To show their support, the Children’s Museum will give $2.00 off museum admission for every t-shirt donated to College Bound Kids on Saturday.
College Bound Kids gives fifth grade students at Mary Ford Elementary School donated college t-shirts during twice monthly presentations in their guidance classes. Attached to each shirt is a diploma created by Ted, containing pictures and a description of the college. Children proudly wear these college t-shirts because they can share facts about the college they are wearing. Ted’s presentations at the schools include a power point presentation he created highlighting the benefits of attending college. College Bound Kids is an organization formed to help low income students develop an early interest in attending college or a four-year university after high school.
College Bound Kids gives students an understanding of what college is, how it may be pursued and allows children insight into various institutions and universities highlighting the college’s academic and sports programs.
