Clean energy census shows that SC has 17,000 clean energy-related jobs
August 6, 2012COLUMBIA, SC – August 6, 2012 – The SC Clean Energy Business Alliance(SCCEBA) is pleased to announce that the 2011 Renewable Energy andEfficiency Industries Census, recently completed by NC State University,indicates that South Carolina currently has over 17,000 full-timeequivalent employees in the clean energy business sector. The majorityof employees working in the clean energy sector are employed in firmsthat specialize in education, services, and consulting. These jobs havebeen created in the wake of the recession that began in December of2007.
This report brings to light valuable information for those seeking arole in the development of clean energy. As noted, the clean energysectors with the largest number of firms include: energy-efficientdesign and construction, energy-efficient retrofitting, and solarenergy.
