March 14, 2012

Monday, March 19 Willie Volunteers at Local Charities that Benefit from the RBC Heritage

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC – March 14, 2012 – From the great golf to the community engagement, the RBC Heritage brings so much to the Lowcountry. One of the greatest aspects of the RBC Heritage is the charitable contributions provided under the direction of the Heritage Classic Foundation. Charity is so much a part of the RBC Heritage and the community that Sir Willie Innes is going on an RBC Heritage Charity Tour. Willie will visit two of the recipient organizations of charity generated from the 2012 RBC Heritage.

On Monday, March 19 from 9 am to 10 am Willie will volunteer at Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) Volunteers In Medicine Clinic, 15 Northridge Dr., Hilton Head Island, SC 29926 and do rounds with doctors and nurses who have expertise in 23 different medical specialties including dentistry, pediatrics, psychiatry, orthopedics and neurology. Every day, more than 100 patients walk through the door at VIM to receive medical care.

Later that afternoon, from 3 pm to 5 pm Willie will spend time with high school students at the Boys & Girls Club of Hilton Head Island at 151 Gumtree Rd., Hilton Head Island, South Carolina 29926, in their new recording studio. Teens will interview Willie, their first celebrity to join them live in their studio, and talk about the highlights of the RBC Heritage.

“Last year, the Heritage Classic Foundation donated $1.25 million to more than 60 charities,” said Steve Wilmot, tournament director of South Carolina’s only PGA TOUR event. “Thanks to the dedication and support of sponsors, volunteers and spectators, the Foundation to date has donated more than $22 million.”
