City of Charleston James Island Team Wins State Championship

CHARLESTON, SC – July 19, 2011 – On Sunday, July 17, 2011, the City of Charleston James Island All Star Team won the 15U State Tournament for the Babe Ruth Baseball league, a league for 13 -15 year olds. The tournament was held in Landrum, S. C. from July 14 to July 17. The City of Charleston James Island team from the James Island Recreation Center played 4 games and won the Championship with a 3-1 record. The team was the All Star team, consisting of members nominated and selected from the other teams at the Recreation Center.
The team will now travel to Sarasota, Florida to represent the State of SC in the 15U Regionals on July 28. City of Charleston Department of Recreation Director Laurie Yarborough said, “The coaches and these players represented themselves, the City of Charleston and the James Island Recreation Center exceptionally well. We are proud of their hard work and look forward to supporting them in the Regionals. “
