Association’s Focus on Commercialization of Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Energy Technologies

CHARLESTON, SC – December 13, 2010 -SCRA was recently named an executive member of the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Energy Association, with Chief Executive Officer Bill Mahoney serving on the Board of Directors as SCRA’s representative.  The Board of Directors is comprised of all association Executive Members and includes automotive, supply chain, stationery and portable fuel cell manufactures and energy companies, among others, nationwide.   Mahoney served on the Board of the U.S. Fuel Cell Council.

The Association is very grateful for the leadership Bill Mahoney has brought to the fuel cell and hydrogen industry, said Ruth Cox, Executive Director of the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Energy Association. The State of South Carolina, along with SCRA, is at the forefront of efforts to speed the commercialization of these vital, clean energy technologies. We look forward to Bill’s continued involvement in our efforts to take the fuel cell and hydrogen energy industry to the next level.

In late October, the U.S. Fuel Cell Council and the National Hydrogen Association announced their intention to join forces and form a new organization, the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Energy Association (FCHEA).  This merger combined the two leading advocacy groups with a unified goal to accelerate the commercialization of fuel cell and hydrogen energy technologies.

I am honored to be a part of this newly-formed association, said Bill Mahoney.  Fuel cells and hydrogen technologies go hand-in-hand and are both vital elements of sustainable energy solutions.  I look forward to SCRA’s involvement as we move forward with innovative research and commercialization of these technologies.  For over 27 years, SCRA has specialized in applied research and commercialization, and I look forward to working with the Executive team and Members of the association to deliver innovative, clean energy solutions.  I am eager to attend the Association’s winter meeting in Washington, DC on December 8 and 9 to hear more about the merger and to prepare for the annual exposition in February.
