Turner Padget Attorney Awarded Bronze Star Medal for Service

Troy Thames honored after six-month tour of duty in Iraq

CHARLESTON,SC – October 20, 2010 – Turner Padget Graham & Laney, P.A. isproud to announce that attorney G. Troy Thames was honored with theU.S. Military’s Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service whilestationed with the U.S. Army’s 3rd Infantry Division in Iraq. Mr.Thames is an attorney in the firm’s Charleston office, and is a Majorin the U.S. Army Reserves. He is a member of the Army’s Judge AdvocateGeneral Corps, and is assigned to the 12th Legal Support Organizationof Fort Jackson, S.C. He is returning home to South Carolina this weekafter serving a year of active duty, including service in Iraq for thelast six months.

Mr. Thames is a recentgraduate of the Army’s Command and General Staff School, and he alsograudated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

TheBronze Star Medal is awarded to any person who, while serving in anycapacity in or with the military of the U.S. after December 6, 1941,distinguished himself or herself by heroic or meritorious achievementor service, not involving participation in aerial flight, while engagedin an action against an enemy of the U.S.; while engaged in militaryoperations involving conflict with an opposing foreign force; or whileserving with friendly foreign forces engaged in an armed conflictagainst an opposing armed force in which the U.S. is not a belligerentparty.

Mr. Thames’ legal practice concentrates in the areas ofgeneral civil litigation, with an emphasis on construction litigationand insurance law. He is also experienced in maritime law and trucking litigation.
