Rear Admiral Jim Flatley to Chair Mount Pleasant Hospital Board; Pat Waters Elected to Board Vice-Chairman
August 11, 2010MOUNT PLEASANT, SC – August 11, 2010 – Admiral James H. (Jim) Flatley, III, USN (Ret.) has been elected Chairman of the Mount Pleasant Hospital Board of Directors. In addition, the Board elected George (Pat) Waters as its Vice Chairman.
Adm. Flatley has served as a Trustee on the Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital Advisory Board since 1997. He served for seven years as CEO of Patriots Point Development Authority and Executive Director of Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum. During his lengthy naval career, Adm. Flatley commanded a Fighter Squadron, an Air Wing, the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga and a Carrier Battle Group. After retiring from the Navy, he served as General Manager and Chairman of the Board of Intermarine USA, building the Navy’s MHC fiberglass minesweepers in Savannah. Adm. Flatley presently serves as Chairman of the South Carolina Maritime Security Commission.
Waters has served on the Roper Hospital Board and is Treasurer of the Charleston County Aviation Authority. He is the former owner of Louisiana-based real-estate investment firm Waters Investments.

Roper St. Francis Healthcare’s Mount Pleasant Hospital opens November 1. The 220,000-sq.-ft., facility will provide 85 inpatient beds, 24-hour emergency care, women’s services, inpatient and outpatient surgery, intensive and critical care units and other services. The hospital is located at U.S. Highway 17 North and Faison Road, adjacent to Wando High School in northern Mount Pleasant.
