South Carolina Hospitality Association Elects New Officers and Directors

CHARLESTON, SC – April 8, 2010 – The South Carolina HospitalityAssociation has elected new officers and Board members for 2010 duringtheir annual meeting held in March.

Duane Parrish, President of Premier Hospitality Group,Charleston, was elected Chairman of the South Carolina HospitalityAssociation.  Parrish will also serve as President of the Hotel Divisionof the Association.

Parrish has over 25 years experience in hotel operations and has heldseveral senior management positions within the hotel industry atdistinguished organizations including Promus Hotels (now Hilton Hotels),Holiday Inns, and Ramada Inns. Mr. Parrish has opened, operated, orrenovated 19 hotels ranging from a 32-room independent inn to a 260-roomfull-service hotel. His hospitality experience also includes managementof the Charleston Area Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Carl Sobocinski, owner of the Table 301 RestaurantGroup, Greenville has been re-elected President of the RestaurantDivision of the Association and will serve as Chairman of the SouthCarolina Tourism & Hospitality Educational Foundation.

Sobocinski is a graduate of Clemson University and was named SouthCarolina Restaurateur of the Year in 2000.  In addition to operatingfour restaurants in downtown Greenville, Mr. Sobocinski represents SouthCarolina on the Board of the National Restaurant Association.

Newly elected as officers of the Association are Bill Ellen of the Clarion Town House Hotel, Columbia as Vice President Membershipof the Hotel Division and David McMillan of DrunkenJack’s Restaurant, Murrells Inlet as Vice President Membership of theRestaurant Division.

Newly elected members of the Associations Board of Directors are:

Hotel Division Board – Colleen Clark of Ben ArnoldSunbelt Beverages, Ridgeland; Raman (R.P.) Rama of JHMHotels, Greenville and Nathan Moore of HeartlandPayment Systems.

Restaurant Division Board –  Don Alcorn of Rush’s FoodSystems, West Columbia; Ritchie Cannon of Fatz Cafes,Greenville; and Tom Propps of Sysco Food Distributors,Columbia.
