USC Law School to Honor Ric Tapp with Prestigious Award

CHARLESTON, SC – March 19, 2010 – Nexsen Pruet is proud to announce that Ric Tapp, a member (partner) in the firm’s Charleston office, has been selected as a 2010 Gold Compleat Lawyer.

Each spring, the University of South Carolina Law School Alumni Association recognizes nine attorneys who demonstrate outstanding civic and professional accomplishments as well as “exemplify the highest standard of professional competence, ethics and integrity.”

Tapp is a trial lawyer with extensive experience in complex litigation in the federal and state courts.  He also represents new and expanding businesses in South Carolina.

In 2009, the Nexsen Pruet Economic Development team, including Tapp, negotiated three major deals for the Lowcountry:

  • Procured incentives for The Boeing Company’s new facility in North Charleston
  • Procured incentives for MeadWestvaco Corporation’s Community Development and Land Management Group and the Rockefeller Group for a new distribution center in Berkeley County
  • Secured matching funds resulting in Clemson University being awarded a $45 million grant for the off-shore wind turbine test facility at the Restoration Institute site in North Charleston

Tapp will be honored at the USC Law School Alumni Association’s Compleat Lawyer Awards Dinner in Columbia on April 15th.

The Compleat Lawyer awards were established in 1992 and recognize attorneys at four levels: Platinum (30+ years of law practice), Gold (15-29 years of practice), Silver (fewer than 14 years of practice) and Bronze (current law students). Read more here…
