BIA elects 2019 leadership
November 28, 2018Jennifer Harding was elected as 2019 President of the Building Industry Association of Central South Carolina (BIA), at the Annual Meeting of the Membership held October 9, 2018. She will assume the duties of President in January 2019.
Although born in Macon, Georgia Mrs. Harding considers Miami, Florida her hometown. She lived in Miami for 20 years and attended North Miami Senior High and then attained a degree in Marketing from the University of Florida/Florida International University. After her newspaper career, she began her real estate career as a Realtor with Century 21 and then VP of Relocation for Russell & Jeffcoat and Coldwell Banker. She is now Vice President, Business Solutions with Leading Real Estate Companies of the World.
She is active in the community serving on various clubs and organizations including the Public Policy Commission of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce, Junior League, and Youth Corps. She is an Area Director for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) and is President of the Columbia Executives & Owners Association.
Mrs. Harding is married to Steve Harding and they have two children, Matthew and Jacob. In her free time, she enjoys travelling, shopping and wine tastings.
Serving as officers of the BIA are Thom Chumney of Southern Traditional Homes as Vice President; Kim O’Quinn, Mungo Homes, Associates Vice President; R.B. Gallup of Gallup & LaFitte – Design-Build as Treasurer; Stan O’Brien, Paradime Construction as Secretary.
Mike Satterfield of Great Southern Homes will serve as Immediate Past President.
In addition, the membership elected two Associates Directors and three Builder Director to the board each for two-year terms. The Associate Directors are Kimberly Branham of Synovus Mortgage and Richard Hitchler of 84 Lumber. The new Builder Directors are Mike Cancilla of Essex Homes; Matt Mungo of Mungo Homes; and Shelton Twine of Great Southern Homes.
Chairpersons of BIA councils and chapters also have a seat on the Board of Directors. Included are Wes McManus of Harbinger Homes serving as Chairman of the High Performance Building Council; Tim Kehoe of Kehoe Constructors serving as Chairman of the BIA Remodelers Council; Lee Glaze of SCE&G serving as Chairman of the Sumter/Clarendon Chapter; Mark Hood of Hood Construction serving as Chairman of the Commercial Council; Sally Rymer-Hoard serving as Chairwoman of the Sales and Marketing Council; and, Kevin Steelman of LandTech Inc. of SC serving as Chairman of the Land Development Council.
