Continuous growth is anticipated as Columbia-based restaurant hits milestone and closes in on expansion to Kiawah

Cantina 76 is poised to celebrate its one-year anniversary in its ONE City Plaza location on Greenville’s energetic Main Street, where the lively, independently owned taqueria and bar continues to see rising popularity since it opened its doors – and its outdoor patio – on Aug. 1, 2016.

The Greenville restaurant is the third Cantina 76 location for the S.C. based restaurant group, with a fourth in the works on Kiawah Island. Originally established in Columbia, S.C., Cantina 76 is a Mexican-inspired taqueria and bar known for its fresh, unique ingredients and large assortment of imaginative tacos and handmade margaritas. “Our expansion to the Greenville location was a natural progression which allowed us to become a part of another growing, thriving community in our state,” says Chad Elsey, one of four co-owners. “The positive response from the business community has been exciting, and Cantina 76 has become a downtown meetup spot as a result. We’re thrilled at the welcome we’ve received from visitors and locals alike.”

This comfortable, inviting restaurant and bar is a go-to for families, couples, young professionals, businesspeople and college students alike. The large outdoor patio provides a dynamic setting for a night out and drinks with friends, a quick meal with coworkers during a lunch break, or a lunch date with the significant other. A meal at Cantina 76 is always easy, flavorful and fun.

“Being downtown and being a part of the incredible growth and excitement surrounding ONE City Plaza is one of the things we love most about our location in Greenville,” says co-owner Craig Wyatt. “Now that we are enjoying another season of outdoor events on Main St. such as the Saturday market and the evening concert series, we are more excited than ever to welcome downtown visitors for tacos and margaritas.”

Over 30% of the menu is fashioned from South Carolina-grown products and local vendors. Popular lunch items include the best-selling Peruvian Shrimp Taco: lightly fried shrimp, sweet sesame chili sauce and crisp coleslaw; the Smoked Pork Taco: shredded pork, sweet mustard ancho BBQ sauce and crisp coleslaw; and the Chicken Teriyaki taco: pan-seared chicken topped with grilled onions, sweet sesame chili sauce and feta crumbles. The margaritas are hand-crafted, using ingredients like agave nectar and fresh lime juice, and the bar is ever-stocked with a selection of premium tequilas.

Drink specials include happy hour with half-price original, house margaritas and a $1 discount on all alcoholic drinks, Monday-Friday, 4-7 p.m.; $2.50 Corona and Corona Light on Friday, 11 a.m.-close and half-price original, house margaritas on Saturday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

Weekly features from the kitchen make their debut each Monday of the week, viewable online at http://www.cantina76.com and highlighted on the restaurant’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter (@Cantina76).
