Chuck Garnett steps into chairman role at Transitions Homeless Center

March 21, 2018

Chuck Garnett, president and CEO of NBSC, a division of Synovus Bank, was named chairman of the board for Transitions Homeless Center, effective in January 2018. Succeeding David Pankau in the position, Garnett is taking the helm as the largest homeless center in the Midlands assesses its impact, and continues to fine-tune its customized programs and services for veterans, the elderly and youth.
At the first board meeting of the year, Garnett encouraged Transitions management team to continue their exploration of addressing local gaps in services for homeless persons who are medically frail, a growing vulnerable population.

On the board since 2015, Garnett has already helped Transitions with key efforts to broaden support and awareness for the 260-bed facility. Moreover, his company, Synovus Bank, has stepped up to once again be the Presenting Sponsor for Transitions’ May fundraiser, Chefs’ Feast. This event spotlights nationally acclaimed chefs working side by side with Transitions’ clients to prepare and serve a five-course dinner. According to Garnett, the organization’s mission-driven staff is central to its success and he is pleased to take a leadership role in supporting its activities. “I’m honored to be serving as board chair, and to have the privilege of leading this team of community and business leaders. We all share a deep commitment to making the Midlands a better place to live and work, and we understand that can only happen if we remain committed to helping the least among us find their way home,” Garnett said.
