Crum to join Nursing Faculty at Bob Jones University
September 1, 2017Kelly Crum will join the Bob Jones University faculty this fall as Professor in the Division of Nursing in the College of Arts and Science. Most recently, Crum served as Director of the School of Nursing at Maranatha Baptist University (MBU) in Watertown, Wisconsin.
“Kelly is a highly experienced nurse who has a true passion for nursing education, both in-residence and online,” said Dr. Renae Wentworth, dean of the College of Arts and Science. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to have her as part of our nursing division.”
Crum earned a BS in Nursing (1990) from Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, Florida. She also earned an MS in Nursing (1995) with a focus in maternal, child nursing, curriculum development, and nursing education from the University of South Alabama as well as a post-master’s degree (1999) in women’s health nurse practitioner coursework. Crum is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing (ABD) from the University of Phoenix and is a licensed nurse in the states of Arizona and Wisconsin.
Crum also served as an associate professor and adjunct faculty member and taught courses such as nursing research, pathophysiology, pediatrics, and maternal child health while at MBU.
Previously, Crum served as an instructional specialist in the Health Sciences and Nursing Department for the University of Phoenix Online and as a certified advanced facilitator at the University of Phoenix. Crum has also served as a nursing faculty member at Pensacola Christian College and Piedmont International University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
With her extensive clinical experience, Crum has worked as a staff nurse in a variety of medical units at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina; St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia; King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky; and Sacred Heart Hospital and West Florida Regional Medical Center in Pensacola. She also served as the Assistant Director of Nursing and Director of Staff Development at Americare Putnam Nursing Home in Charleston, West Virginia; nursing supervisor for Health Care Services (HCS) Nursing and charge nurse at King’s Daughter Medical Center in Ashland; and as the college health nurse at Piedmont International University.
Crum has authored and co-authored numerous publications on the topics of maternal child nursing care, maternity nursing, and women’s health care. She has served as a consultant and subject matter expert for the University of Phoenix, University of Phoenix Online and Benjamin Cummings Press and has served on a number of professional committees at Maranatha Baptist University, the University of Phoenix Online, and on the Omicron Delta Advisory Board. She is a member of the Wisconsin Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau, the American Nurses Association, Wisconsin Board of Nursing, Administrators of Nursing Education of Wisconsin (ANEW) Deans and Directors, and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Deans and Directors.
Crum has participated in medical missions trips to Uganda and Chad, Africa; Puerto Maldonado, Peru; Haiti, Dominican Republic; and has served for many years as camp nurse for Southland Christian Camp in Ringgold, Louisiana; Camp Joy in Whitewater, Wisconsin; and Maranatha Baptist Bible College Summer Camps.
