Nominations sought for Chapin Hall of Fame

July 31, 2017

The Chapin Hall of Fame is looking for nominations for qualified individuals who have exhibited outstanding contributions to the Chapin community, its citizens and its way of life. The Town of Chapin will hold an induction ceremony on Sunday afternoon, November 12, 2017, at 3:00 pm in the community room at Town Hall.

Chapin Hall of Fame 2010 inductee Billy Griffin approached Mayor Skip Wilson in 2016 about resurrecting the Hall of Fame awards for the town, and Mayor Wilson welcomed his leadership in getting the program started again. Griffin is working with other past Hall of Fame inductees and some representatives at Town Hall to coordinate the awards ceremony and reception. He is also asking former Hall of Fame inductees to serve on an awards committee to review past applications and new ones he hope citizens will submit on behalf of deserving individuals which have made a lasting and positive impact on the Chapin community.

Nominees should demonstrate a strong commitment to public service to benefit Chapin, whether that is through church involvement (i.e. longstanding member, council or board members, Sunday school teacher, ministry leader); public education at the local, district, state or college level; civic organizations involvement (i.e. volunteer, member or leader); political activist at the local, state or national level; supporting youth enrichment (i.e. coaching, mentoring, scout leaders, providing youth employment); or exhibits innovation and personal investment through commitment of their time, financial resources and connections to enhance the greater Chapin community. Candidates may be either native sons or daughters or those who have significantly contributed to the success and well-being of the Chapin community and its citizens.
