COLUMBIA and GREENVILLE, SC – Noted South Carolina certified public accountants Phyllis P. Graydon and Greg J. Thompson, formerly partners in Columbia-based Scott and Company CPAs, have announced the formation of Graydon Thompson LLC, an accounting firm designed to offer individuals and organizations across the Carolinas a high-expertise, high-touch alternative to other accounting and consulting firms in the region.
Launching immediately with a team of eight professionals and “a significant client base” in place, the firm is designed to “provide high-level expertise and insight that savvy individuals and fast-growing organizations seek from their accounting partner today, but delivered with the personal touch, accessibility and warmth that all of us want – and too rarely find – in our professional services providers,” said Phyllis Graydon, CPA and co-founder of Graydon Thompson, LLC.
Graydon Thompson will provide a comprehensive range of tax, assurance, small business and specialized consulting services to clients across the Carolinas from the start, added CPA and co-founder Greg Thompson.

Both Ms. Graydon and Mr. Thompson are formerly partners in the Greenville office of Scott and Company CPAs prior to “pursuing this entrepreneurial dream of creating a firm that combines exceptional technical talent with a passionate service ethic,” said Ms. Graydon, who will head the firm’s Tax and Advisory Services Group. “We see a huge market opportunity in serving individuals and organizations who expect high-level capabilities beyond the reach of small local firms, delivered with exceptional value and a style of service that regional and national firms have lost the ability to deliver.”
Ms. Graydon has more than 25 years of tax experience serving individuals and both closely held and publicly traded organizations. Her industry experience includes service to clients in banking, real estate, professional services, manufacturing and healthcare during a career with Arthur Andersen, KPMG, Deloitte, and several regional firms. A forensic accounting and litigation support specialist, she is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the South Carolina Association of Public Accountants. Her civic involvements include volunteer work with JL Mann Academy and Brandon Hall School (Atlanta GA), and with Mauldin Recreation Department and the United Way of Greenville County. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from Furman University.
Mr. Thompson will head Graydon Thompson’s Assurance and Advisory Services team. He has over two decades of experience in both industry and public accounting, having served as reporting manager for two different publicly traded companies, a corporate controller for a textile manufacturing company, CFO for a Southeastern building products manufacturer, and several years with an international accounting firm.
He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the South Carolina Association of Public Accountants, and is a member of the board of directors of the Greenville Little Theater, a member of the Greenville Chorale, and involved in numerous volunteer capacities including United Way of Greenville County and Hands on Greenville. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Economics from Stephen F. Austin State University.
