Prisma Health Midlands Foundation inducts Fellows
February 4, 2019Prisma Health Midlands Foundation, formerly Palmetto Health Foundation, announced Marty Bridges, Frank Brown and Isabel Law (posthumously) have been inducted as Fellows. The Fellows distinction honors individuals whose contributions of time, talent and resources advance the Foundation’s mission and dedication to improving health care in our community.
Bridges, former executive with Palmetto Health, retired after 39 years of service to the organization. Marty first joined S.C. Baptist Hospital in 1979 as a financial analyst and advanced to become vice president and chief financial officer of S.C. Baptist Healthcare in 1987, senior vice president of Administration and Finance in 1992; and executive vice president and chief operating officer of Palmetto Health Baptist in 1998. He retired last spring as chief system performance officer for Palmetto Health. Marty gave generously to the Foundation for many years.
Brown, former chair of the Palmetto Health Foundation board, served two terms on the Foundation board. Under his leadership, the Foundation board launched a successful campaign to support the expansion of the Child Abuse Medical Assessment program at Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital and raised more than $800,000. Prior to his board service, Frank’s company, MarketSearch, had a longtime relationship with Palmetto Health, helping them analyze patient demographics and needs. An annual donor since 2006, Frank has contributed more than $150,000 to various programs and services of Palmetto Health.
Law, a registered nurse and longtime nurse navigator for breast cancer patients, was an icon at the former Baptist Medical Center and in the community. She worked at Baptist from 1990 to her untimely passing in 2008. As a nurse navigator, she was the first person hundreds of women saw after getting a diagnosis of breast cancer, and it was her job to help them understand their diagnosis, navigate treatment, insurance and life after cancer. She assumed pivotal roles with many community programs including Walk for Life, the Mayor’s Task Force for Breast Cancer and the University of South Carolina’s women’s basketball team mentoring program.
