The Heirloom Companies wins two awards at fifth annual Bridge Awards Gala

May 7, 2018

The Heirloom Companies was recently honored for its skill and leadership at the Home Builders Association of Greenville’s 2017 Bridge Awards Gala presented by GBS Building Supply on Thursday, April 26. The company was recognized with the Best Special Feature Award for its Outdoor Grilling Station & Trellis at an Upstate residence and Ben Moseley, Heirloom’s Head of Operations, was honored with the Committee Chairman Award for his dedication to the HBA of Greenville.

“This past year we saw incredible works produced by the best teams in the Greenville area,” James Speer, HBA of Greenville’s President said. “The HBA of Greenville is excited to honor its membership with these awards as a testament to their ability and character in the industry.”

The Home Builders Association of Greenville recognizes excellence in craftsmanship, service to the industry, commitment to the community and member recruitment and retention, with a variety of awards through the Bridge Awards. The awards are divided among three main categories: individual, sales and marketing and craftsmanship.

“The HBA of Greenville is a strong advocate for the home building industry in the Upstate and I am honored to be recognized with the rest of the Heirloom team,” Moseley said. “A lot of our success is due to the network, resources and allies the HBA provides to our company, which allows us to focus on creating the best possible products for our clients.”

Best Special Feature—Outdoor Grilling Station & Trellis
The Best Special Feature Award focuses on new and improved ideas in the home building industry. This outdoor grilling station integrates all of its elements into a pool-side entertainment area for the residence, built by Dillard Jones. The radius of the curved, overhanging lattice matches the shape of the grill, which incorporates a green egg, a traditional gas grill and a flat top griddle into a unified, convenient cooking area.

With the exception of the granite countertops, this custom unit is constructed entirely of Corten steel. When Corten is exposed to the natural elements, a thin layer of patina forms, which acts as a barrier to protect the metal’s surface from the heavy rust and deterioration usually associated with unprotected steel.

The LED lights that are hidden in the supporting corbels provide an unexpected yet practical design element, along with the LED twinkle-lights that are woven among the canopy of gentle leaves that grace the overhanging trellis. The trellis was custom designed, and CNC cut out to incorporate the natural setting at this residence. Every leaf was crafted to fit the natural surroundings. This Trellis is constructed of Aluminum for its lightweight and non-rusting properties.

Committee Chairman—Ben Moseley
The Committee Chairman Award recognizes someone who has provided leadership not only to the committee, but to the Home Builders Association of Greenville. Moseley has served as the Southern Home & Garden Show Committee Chairman since 2016. Under his leadership, the Home Show has increased volunteer participation as well as overseeing the unexpected transition to a new marketing firm.
