December 29, 2015The Spartanburg County Foundation awarded $9,600 in surprise grants to five Spartanburg County nonprofit organizations today, Just Because. This act of ambush philanthropy not only provides assistance to nonprofit organizations, but also brings awareness to needs in the greater Spartanburg Community. “This is an opportunity for the Foundation to be able to surprise nonprofit organizations that are doing great work to help meet important needs in our community. It helps build awareness for these nonprofits so they may fulfill their missions. This is our way of giving back and making a difference during the holiday season,” said Troy Hanna, president and CEO of The Spartanburg County Foundation.

The Spartanburg County Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of Spartanburg County residents by promoting philanthropy, encouraging community engagement, and responding to community needs. This year, the Foundation has invested $9.7 million back into the community by awarding 1,850 grants.
