Once on This Island Jr. at Town Theatre
May 2, 2019Once On This Island Jr. is a rousing and heartfelt story full of moving music and beautiful storytelling. Based on Hans Christian Andersen’s classic fairy tale, The Little Mermaid, Once on This Island Jr. is set on a Caribbean island and follows the story of Ti Moune, a girl who believes the gods have promised her a fulfilling, though unknown, future.
Ti Moune, played by Caroline Quinn, believes her prayers have been answered when she rescues and falls in love with grand homme Daniel, played by Max McKenna. Ti Moune’s disapproving parents, Tonton Julian and Mama Euralie, are played by Trey Weaver and Anna Hedges, respectively. As Ti Moune journeys to reunite with Daniel, the storytellers (Jenna Hansard, Nathan Jackson, Lisa Ortuno, and Sophie Jones) enter and introduce us to the gods Asaka (Grace Sawicki), Agwe (Alex Cone), and Erzulie (Kaycee Dial). How will Ti Moune and Daniel’s story end? Join these students as well as Vivian Akre, Quinnie Mustian, Ella Riley, Morgan Weaver, and Malarie Williamson as they present their year end work, Once on This Island Jr.
Town Teen Troupe (T3) is Town Theatre’s premiere musical theatre performance group for older teens.
